End Of The Year Resolutions
December has started and in a craziness of finishing every last project before the holidays we have all quietly started thinking about the year that is drawing to an end. We are not quite at the finishing line yet, we can barely see it, but the weight of the year is already too big of a burden and we just want to wrap it up and start a fresh. Was it really a hard year? Was it full of sadness and impossible decisions, was it really so draining? Or it’s the never finishing battle with work, family life, unfulfilled dreams that we want to burry and even forget and turn a new leaf? All the resolutions that were forgotten already in February, the promises that were not kept, the disappointment that I didn’t do as much as I set myself to do… all these thoughts are creeping and taking over the every day. Ruining the present.
With the tiredness blurring the real pictures it’s hard to see all the good that has happened. With the disappointments clouding the eyes it’s impossible to acknowledge the achievements. Without stepping back and seeing the eleven months that have passed with clear mind that doesn’t just look for flaws and is oh so quick to judge, we cannot close the year just yet.
So let’s take it slow. Take a deep breath to calmly bring all the tasks to the end. You still have 3 weeks to go! When the holidays come, you will have more time to ourselves, to be relaxed in your home and be merry with your loved ones, and what is important will crystalize. And if all the work is not finished yet, if all the books are not signed, if something is still pending and hanging over your head – its ok. January is there. The world is not magically ending and with January starting completely new and unknown. Everything will still be more or less the same. We are already stuck in the future, dragging the present as if it’s already in the past… no wonder the burden is hard!
Hopefully with rested mind and priorities in check it will be easier to make the right decisions. And the new year’s resolutions that will not be impossible to keep.
So be kind to yourself! You are doing as much as you can. Be forgiving and loving and pull your socs up not to give up just yet!! You can do it! Life is full of uncertainty, the world seems to be spinning out of control – but lets be calm. You are not alone. Keep on working, keep on living, keep on loving.
And if you really have to make resolutions already, let it be very simple: be true. Live your life in the truth, follow what you believe in and allow others do the same. Love with open heart, give with open hands without expectations of returns. Life is not a merchandise. Life is to live, life is a gift, life is a joy! Life is now!
